Some History of the Budgerigar (a.k.a. Parakeet)

WE ARE STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Please check back soon.

The term "Parakeet" is most often used to mean a small parrot with a long tail. I use it all over this website as the term for the Budgerigar, or Budgie, whose scientific classification and pictures are shown on this website. When you are looking for one of these beautiful birds on Petfinder, they can be found under Budgie, Budgerigar, and Parakeet.

Parakeets are native to Australia where they live in GIANT flocks. The true color of a budgie is called "normal green," but since humans have put their hands in their breeding, they come in all sorts of colors.
